Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mary Louise (Weesie) Smith, age 74 of Lamesa, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Church of Christ with officiants, Calvin E. Smith, Sr. and Mark Hackett. Interment will follow to Lamesa Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Viewing will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with a family visitation hour from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Mary passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
She was born on December 13, 1940 in Seguin, Texas. Mary married David Lee Smith, Sr. on February 28, 1963 in Lamesa, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Smith, Sr.; her father, Dan Williams, Sr. and mother, Minnie Williams; her sister, Maude Bolton; her brothers, L.J. Williams, Benny Williams, Sr., Nellis Williams, Sr.
Mary was a hair stylist, care taker, volunteer at the local food bank and a member of Church of Christ for over 50 years.
Mary is survived by her family, her sons, David Lee Smith, Jr. and Lori, Tommy D. Smith and Angie, Prentis D. Smith, Kevin D. Smith, all of Lubbock, Texas and Sheldon T. Smith and Tammie of Arlington, Texas; her daughter, Celia D. Smith of Lubbock, Texas; her brother, Dan Williams, Jr. of Lamesa, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a host of family relatives and friends.
