I was the Training Chief in Lubbock when Kendall went through our Fire Academy in 1996. One day as the recruits were fighting the house fire he begged me to let him set off a stick of dynamite out behind the house while some of the other recruits were inside..."it'll be so funny" he said! I relented. The percussion and thunder rocked the whole canyon! Recruits came scrambling out of the house, and as I turned around to look, the Deputy Chief was driving up. I thought my career was over. Kendall was on the ground rolling in laughter as they all dog-piled him. It was quite the scene and describes exactly the type of person he was. Kendall was full of life, always the jokester, and always a good friend. I will miss him and I am asking that God gives his family peace during this difficult time.
