AURORA (DORA) ZAPATA's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Aurora (Dora) Zapata of Lamesa, TX., at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with celebrant Fr. Chacko Thadathil officiating. Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday, January 2, 2023, from 9: 00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with Rosary prayer services both nights starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Dora Zapata age 101 peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on December 6, 1921, in San Saba, TX., to Carlos and Consepcion Flores.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Consepcion Flores; her husband, Guadalupe N. Zapata; her daughter, Delia Marquez; and her two sons, Richard Zapata, and Jesse Zapata.
Dora enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, needle point, playing Bingo, and getting her hair done
Dora is survived by her children, Arturo Zapata, Ray Zapata, Tony Zapata, Mary Rangel, Estela Rodriquez, Alice Berumen, and Erma Scott. She is also survived by 6 generations of grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
