Our family thought the world of Willie. He was a special man who always had time to take an interest in the children of Lamesa and the surrounding communities. I know that my family and many others will cherish memories with Willie for years to come. Prayers for his family.

Wille Gene...one awesome guy, who never lacked for something to say. He made my high school years FUN. He was a great athlete with a huge smile. Yes, he simply called me, "TK" and he would often add, "the PK." He was so multi-talented...sing, and dance. He was my friend for many years! Later on, he discussed God with me often. I will miss this guy!
Willie and I and all who graduated from LHS in 1969 grew up in segregation until our freshman year in High School in 1965. We played sports together for four years, and he was a very good athlete, but he was much more than an athlete; he was a good friend. He was liked by everyone, and you could not be around him and not feel better. He seemed to always have something funny to say, and he always entertained everyone at dances after football games. What a lot of great memories.
Lord bless Willie's family.

Condolence to the entire Hill family. While reading some of the memories and obituary , I recall seeing the comment in reference to "NICK NAMES" !!! Well I am DEBRIA WHITFIELD MITCHELL and Lamesa is my hometown . When I was home and still in Jr. High/ high school Willie Gene gave me the NICK NAME of " TEEN NOTCHIE/ TENI. Even though " TENI" was no longer "TEEN NOTCHIE" every time I came home and did see WIlle Gene I was still "TEEN NOTCHIE " to him. To Tabitha whom I just met last Wednesday !! Keep your head up high!
