TERESA CAVAZOS CORTEZ's Obituary
Funeral services for Teresa Cavazos Cortez age 106 of Seminole, Texas and formerly of Lamesa will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at The CWJC Building (The Lighthouse)located at 1013 N. 2nd Street in Lamesa, TX. Officiating the funeral service will be Ricardo Jimenez. (No Rosary Services, per preferred religion). Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday, October 27th and 28th from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home.
Rafaela passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Seminole, TX. She was born on July 4, 1912 in Karnes City, TX. to Jesus and Rafaela Cavazos. Rafaela married Melquiades Cortez on October 31, 1933 in Karnes City, TX.
Preceded her in death are those to welcome her home were, husband, Melquiades; her children, Anita, Maria, Jesse, Juan and Pedro; her parents.
Rafaela enjoyed knitting, cooking and gardening. She was a member of The Lamesa Church of Christ, Lamesa, TX, and Iglesia Evangelica en Cristo Jesus in Seminole, TX.
Survivors include her children, son,Vidal Cavazos of Andrews, TX., son, Alejandro Cortez of Lamesa, TX., son, Daniel Cortez of Lamesa, TX., her daughter, Cipriana Cortez of Winters, TX., daughter, Rafaela Ortiz of Seminole, TX., son, Frank Cortez of Phoenix, AZ, son, Roberto Cortez of Big Springs,TX., son, Paul Cortez of Coleman, TX.; she was blessed with numerous grandchildren and an abundant amount of great-grandchildren
