TEODORA (DORA) GONZALES CAVAZOS's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Teodora (Dora) Gonzales Cavazos age 79 of Round Rock, TX., at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with celebrate Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
A viewing and visitation will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Friday March 31, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Teodora passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Round Rock, TX. She was born on September 16, 1943, in Lamesa, TX. Dora married Luciano Cavazos, Jr. on February 13, 1960 in Yorktown, TX.
Teodora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luciano Cavazos, Jr.; her parents, Salvador (Buck) and Pauline (Guire) Gonzales; her sister, Sara Rodriguez; her brother, Jose Luis Gonzales.
Teodora was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She and her husband Luciano met in Lamesa and were married for 60 years. While living in Lamesa, Teodora was employed by Head Start. She worked as a parent coordinator, which was to her the most rewarding job. She helped parents by conducting child development workshops as well as classes in painting, ceramics, crocheting, sewing, and cooking. Her goal was to encourage parent participation in the program. Later the family moved to Austin Texas where Teodora continued her work as a Head Start Center Director. She enjoyed gardening, watching movies and cooking. She liked playing cards and was always up for a friendly game of Poker. She was a devoted Catholic and prayed the Rosary daily. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Teodora is survived by her loving family. Her children, her daughters, Lorina Cavazos Garza and son-in-law, Valente Garza, and Loretta Cavazos, all of Round Rock, TX.; her son, Larry Cavazos of Austin, TX.; her sisters, Maria Rodriguez Gonzales of Midland, TX., Rebecca Gonzales of Lamesa, TX., and Laura Gonzales Lucio of Round Rock, TX.; 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews who loved their aunt Teodora very much; several relatives and friends.
