A Catholic funeral mass was celebrated for 64 year old, Sylvia Rivas Ochoa, of Lamesa, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Lamesa with Father Edwardo Teo officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Rosary was recited on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel as was viewing and visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Sylvia passed away on January 19, 2015 at UMC in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on October 1, 1965 in Yorktown, Texas. She loved to dance and spending time with her grand-babies. Sylvia enjoyed playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Saragosa and Esperanza Rivas; her brothers, Richard Rivas, Bernie Rivas; her niece, Dorothy Rivas.
Sylvia is survived by her family, her daughters, Kashira Ochoa of Tyler, Texas, Arron Ochoa of Lubbock, Texas; her sisters, Rosa Rivas of Lamesa, Texas, Juana Rivas of Levelland, Texas; her brothers, Sammy Rivas of Lubbock, Texas, Saragosa Rivas, Jr. of Levelland, Texas, Roy Rivas of Morton, Texas, Rene Rivas of Venus, Texas, Jessie Rivas of Venus, Texas, Juan Rivas of Louisville, Texas, Chon Rivas of Brownfield, Texas, Robert Rivas of Brownfield, Texas, Raymond Rivas of Whiteface, Texas, Guadalupe Rivas of O'Donnell, Texas; four grandchildren.
