RUFINO MARMOLEJO JR.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Rufino Marmolejo, Jr, age 64 of Lamesa will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Lighthouse Community Center of Lamesa. Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangments are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funerall Home.
Viewing will be held on Sunday and Monday at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Rufino passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 in Lubbock. He was born on August 7, 1953 in Staples, Texas. Rufino married Sylvia Ramirez on June 21, 1972 in Lamesa.
Rufino was employed for more than 40 years by the Lamesa ISD where he enjoyed his job as a custodian and where all the students over the years referred to him as "grandpa". Rufino was loved and respected by all the faculty. He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his family.
Rufino was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Marmolejo; his father, Rufino Marmolejo, Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory includes, his wife of 45 years Sylvia Marmolejo of Lamesa; his chidren, Josie Marmolejo, Moises Marmolejo, Jacob Marmolejo, Jennifer Marmolejo, all of Lamesa; his mother, Hilaria Marmolejo of Lamesa; his brothers, Nick Marmolejo, David Marmolejo, and Raul Marmolejo, all of Lamesa; his sisters, Lydia Torres of Clovis, NM, Linda Martinez of Hobbs, NM, Esther Gonzales and Nelda Marmolejo, both of Lamesa; fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
