Rosa Garza Tijerina's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Rosar Garza Tijerina, age 63 of Lamesa, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Rosary services are set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Tijerina passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in Lamesa. She was born on May 4, 1951 in Lamesa. Rosa married Carlos Tijerina on June 13, 1969 in Lamesa. Rosa was a teacher's aide. She was very involved in her Catholic church as a member of the women's organization of "Las Guadalupanas", she taught CCE for many years and served as a church lector and volunteered at the food band and worked voters registration. Rosa loved to sew, crochet, make crafts and costumes for her grandchildren.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Luz E. Garza and Francisca R. Garza; her father-in-law, Guillermo "Willie" Tijerina, Sr. and her mother-in-law Cristina Tijerina; her brother-in-law, Filomeno Perez; her nephew, Xavier Zorola.
Rosa is survived by her husband, Carlos Tijerina, Sr. of Lamesa; her son Carlos R. Tijerina, Jr. of Lamesa; her daughters, Tabrina Tijerina of Lamesa and Delilah Tijerina and Rosa's son-in-law, Patrick Prieto of Crane, Texas; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ramon Garza and wife, Augustina of Lubbock, Texas and Martin Garza, Sr. and wife, Epifania of San Angelo, Texas; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Costancia Quiroga and husband, Robert of Pomona, CA., Clemencia Zorola and husband, Jose of Lamesa, Texas, Estela Scheeren and husband, Tim of Greensburg, PA., Isabel Yanez and husband, David of Big Spring, Texas and Louis Perez of Lamesa, Texas; eight grandchildren.
