Funeral services for Richard Ortiz age 76 of Lamesa, TX. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jesse Salazar officiating. The burial will follow at the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Gonzales Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Richard passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family in Lamesa, TX. He was born on June 10, 1948, in San Angelo, TX. Richard married Rebecca Ruiz.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Ruiz Ortiz; his grandson, Noah Alaniz.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a “jokester”.
Richard is survived by his son, Robert Ortiz of Lamesa, TX.; his daughters, Lillie Rodriguez (Luis), and Lori Calicuitt (T-Bone), all of Lamesa, TX.; his brothers, Johnny Ortiz, and Bobby (Bear) Alonzo, both of Lamesa, TX.; his sisters, Evangelina Padilla, Sylvia Alonzo, and Otillia Granado, all of Lamesa, TX.; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
