Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Refugia (Ruth) Velasquez age 64 of O’Donnell, TX., at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Ruth passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. She was born December 16, 1957, in Taylor, TX. Ruth married David Velasquez on December 29, 1973.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Cristobal and Genobeba Velasquez; her grandson, Zachary Leon.
Ruth was a strong and glorious wife and mother. She was loving, brave, kindhearted, and generous. Ruth was a marvelous grandmother who was fun loving and enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was brilliant, optimistic, one of the most down to earth people you could ever come across. This woman was genuine and magnificent.
Ruth is survived by her husband, David Velasquez of O’Donnell, TX.; her children, son, John David Velasquez and daughter-in-law, Amy Velasquez of Lamesa, TX.; her daughters, Michell Rosas and son-in-law, Epie Rosas of O’Donnell, TX., Debra Ramirez and son-in-law, Jesus Ramirez of Stanton, TX., and Amanda Velasquez of Lubbock, TX.; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
