Funeral services for Rebecca Ortiz age 72 of Lamesa will be held at 10:00 a.m. April 9, 2019 at the Vision Worship Center of Lamesa with Pastor Corina Salazar officiating. Interment will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing will be held on Monday 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with an inspirational service at 7:00 p.m.
Rebecca passed away on Thursday April 4, 2019 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on December 5, 1946 in Lyford, TX. Rebecca married Richard Ortiz on December 6, 1960 in Lamesa, TX.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Ortiz, Jr.; her parents, Martin and Celia Ruiz; her sister, Maria de Jesus Vasquez; her brother, Martin Ruiz, Jr.
Rebecca loved dancing in her younger years. She enjoyed Bingo nights, loved pets and was a very hard worker.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Richard Ortiz of Lamesa, TX.; her children, two daughters, Lillie Rodriguez and Luis of Lamesa, TX., Lori Calicuitt and Tee of Lamesa, TX., and her son Robert Ortiz and Brenda of Tahoka, TX.; her grandson, Ryan Ortiz and Gabby of Lamesa, TX.; her siblings, Oralia Castro and Roberto, Nola Flores and Joel, Odelia Sanchez and Jimmy, Linda Davila and Rey, Juan Ruiz and Norma, and Ricardo Ruiz and Gloria; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
