I always enjoyed being on the Kairos team serving with R. L. He was one of the most godly persons I've ever met. There was a sense that he had a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and his sincerity and earnestness in serving God was evident to all of us. He has touched so many lives with God's love inside and outside of the prison fence. I will miss R. L. Very much. His legacy lives on in so many of us who knew him.
I met R.L. in 1997 when I was incarcerated at the Smith Unit in Lamesa, Texas. Hearing his story made me cry, laugh, rejoice, and it gave me hope. I will always remember his stories, his laughter, his love of music, and especially his love and devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ.
