Funeral services for Mary Lou Richards age 85 of Lamesa, TX. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Pastor David Boyd officiating, with the viewing starting at 11:00 a.m. The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Mary Lou Richards (Alexander) was born on October 4, 1938, in Palestine, TX. to Fred and Gladys Alexander. She passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, in Lubbock, TX. Mary was a spiritual ambassador/usher at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church in Denver, CO., as well as a long-time member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lamesa, TX.
Mary’s siblings in order: Louis Hamilton, Freddie Alexander, Shirley Scott, Paulette Jenkins, Iris Collins, Marvin Alexander, Betty Ann Mitchell, Sherry Alexander, Debra Sue Alexander, and Steve Alexander.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Gladys Alexander, son Larry Smith, sisters Shirley Scott, Freddie Alexander, Paulette Jenkins and Debra Sue Alexander, and her brother Marvin Alexander along with various other loved ones.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Estelene Smith. Grandchildren, Jermaine Smith, Jalonda Johson, and Joshua Smith. Great grandchildren, Dashanae Wright, Teonna West, Ahmear Hopson, Tyson Lynch, Tierra Mack, Aungelique Lucero-Smith, Ja’Niyah Johnson, Ja’Taeu Johnson, Jenesis Smith, Jermanee Smith, Jahsiah Johnson, and Jeremiah Lucero-Smith. Great grandchildren, Xha’nae Trevino, Tyson Lynch, Jr. Atreus Trevino, Milada Trevino and Aurora Lynch.
