MARINA AGUAYO's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass for Marina Aguayo, age 80 of Lamesa, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Lamesa with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating and assisted by Deacon Daniel Valenzuela. Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Rosary will be recited Monday, June 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Marina was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Aguayo; her son, David Aguayo; her parents, Felix and Josefa Flores.
Marina passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. "Mama Marina", as her family called her, was born on August 21, 1936 in Arcinas, Durango, Mexico to Felix and Josefa (Leal) Flores. She married the love of her life, Lorenzo Aguayo on March 1, 1954, moving to Lamesa in 1962. She was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St. Margaret Mary's here in Lamesa. She loved having gathering and cooking for her grandkids. Mama Marina would always have something cooking in her kitchen, especially having prepared a cake and oatmeal for it being the kid's favorite. She loved her Texas Rangers baseball team, watched every game, win or lose she cheered them on. She loved the game more at Ranger Stadium, she made sure she attended a live game at least once a year.
Marina loved her music, especially Country, as her favorite artist was 'George Strait", who knew exactly what words to sing to her on those perfect days.
Marina is survived by her most loving family, her children, her son, Jose Aguayo of Lamesa, Texas and his children, Reyna and husband, Adam Garza, Vivianna and husband, Enoc Sanchez, Rosa and husband, Manuel Salinas, Araseli, Marcos and Carlos Aguayo; her daughter, Adriana Sauseda and husband, Johnny of Lamesa, Texas and their son, Michael Sauseda and wife, J'Lyn; her son, Gerry Aguayo and wife, Estella of Grand Prairie, Texas and their children, Pastor Jeremiah Aguayo and wife, Laura of Lamesa, Stacey Elizarraras and husband, Adam, Vanessa Aguayo and Gabby Aguayo; her daughter, Maria Hatchett and husband, Todd of Lamesa, Texas and their children, Josh Hatchett and wife, Mary, Joel Enriquez and wife, Lauren, Jeremy Hatchett and wife, Chelsea, Zach Hatchett , Vincent Enriquez and wife, Jasmine; her daughter, Elena Aguayo of Lamesa, Texas and son, Nick Aguayo and pet "Chico Aguayo"; Marina's extended grandchildren, David Segura and wife, Bianca, Nancy DeLa Fuente and husband, Lupe; great grandchildren, Selah and Nylah Elizarraras, Elijah, Bella, Nana and Benji Elizarraras, Gracie and Preston Hatchett, Liam Enriquez, Abel, Rico and Annalisa Garza, Alysa and Matthew Sanchez, Elleny Salinas, J.J. Morales and Samantha DeLa Fuente, Nathaniel and Evelyn Segura; Marina's caregiver and confidant, Reyes Lugo; and finally, Marina leaves behind her "little buddy" Isaak (Frijolito) Flores.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael, Jeremiah, Joel, Vincent, Nick, Marcos, Carlos.
Honorary-pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Elijan, J.J., Benji
