Funeral services for Maria de La Luz Z. Reyes age 73 of Lamesa, TX. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 27, 2020 at The Church of God of the First Born with Pastor Lynn Garcia and Pastor Paul Alvarado officiating. The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Due to the area Covid-19 situations we continue with public safety measures.

Viewing will be held on Saturday July 24, 2020 until 9:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home, and on Sunday July 26, 2020 from 9:00 .am. until 3:00 p.m. and again starting at 5:00 p.m. at The Church of God of the First Born.
Maria de La Luz passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on December 17, 1946 in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Maria de La Luz married Jose Reyes on May 10, 1978. She was a faithful member of The Church of God of the First Born, and loved working for the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando and Romula Zapata; her brother, Alejo Zapata Amaya; her sister, Rosa Carillo Zapata.
Maria de La Luz is survived by her husband, Jose Reyes of Lamesa, TX.; her son, Samuel Zapata and wife Laura of Lamesa, TX.; her daughters, Rosie Z. Trejo and husband Jose, Brenda R. Gonzalez and husband Noe, and Maria M. Reyes, all of Lamesa, TX.; her brothers, Miguel Zapata of Mexico, and Francisco Guardiola of Donna, TX.; her sisters, Guadalupe Z. Escamilla of Donna, TX. Delfina Z. Vitela, Inez A. Roman, Blanca Z. Vasquez, and Santos Z. Lozano, all of Mexico; 23 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She helped raise 2 nephews, Antonio Carillo and Ramiro Carillo, and 1 niece, Yolanda Carillo, all of Mexico; numerous relatives and friends.
