MARIA HINOJOSA QUINTANA's Obituary
Our beautiful Maria ‘Ma’ Hinojosa Quintana went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Lubbock, TX., after a courageous battle with COVID-19. She was surrounded by her loving children throughout her last moments and by her youngest child and oldest granddaughter in her final moments. Maria was born on March 22, 1941 in Gonzales, TX. Ma’s legacy of strength and love will continue through her six living children; Esteban (Sandra) Quintana of Lorenzo,TX., Elvira (Raul) Cedillo of Lubbock, TX., Seferino Quintana of Lubbock, TX., Ermelinda (Bense) Garza of Idalou, TX., Amy (Matthew) Cisneros of Lorenzo, TX., and Christopher Quintana of Lorenzo, TX., as well as her 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and her favorite dog, Blue. She is also survived by her siblings; Miguel Hinojosa of Mathis, TX., Petra Villarreal of Mathis, TX., Ofelia Silva of Lemmings, TX., Lupita Gonzales of Lemmings, TX., Juanita Garcia of Minnesota, Virginia Esconia of Pleasanton, TX., Alicia Perez of Mathis, TX., Eva Hinojosa of Pleasanton, TX., Rafel Hinojosa of Plainview, TX., and Seferino Hinojosa, Jr. of Woodrow, TX.; She is preceded in death by her parents; Seferino and Juanita Hinojosa; Sister, Ofilia Gonzalez, her first daughter, Juanita, and her husband of 41 years, Pedro Quintana. Our Ma will forever be remembered for her open arms and her open home where you couldn’t leave without her feeding you some of the BEST homemade tortillas or our family favorites, tamales. She loved feeding her family, her visits from her sister Ofelia and brother in law, talking daily (sometimes for hours!) on the phone with her sister Petra, tending to her flowers and garden, loving on her Blue, watching her favorite Telenovelas and loving on her grandkids and great grandkids. The family thanks the countless medical staff and nurses at UMC who held her hand and were with her throughout this difficult battle. Please continue to respect their lives, their daily sacrifice, and the lives of those most vulnerable by doing your part to stop the spread of this virus.
