MARIA DE LA LUZ SIDON DE ACEVEDO's Obituary
Maria de la Luz Sidon de Acevedo. Age 69 of Lamesa, TX., entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 30, 1955, in Durango, Mexico to Benito Sidon and Isabel Jaquez. She made Lamesa, TX. her second home and took care of her children and grandchildren as a stay-at-home mom.
A devout Catholic, Maria lived her life with faith, love, and service to others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, always placing God and family at the center of her life. She was a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, where she found great joy in worship, prayer, and community.
Maria is survived by her children Antonio Acevedo, Olivia Acevedo, Maria del Refugio Acevedo, Pascual Jr. Acevedo, Luz Acevedo, Bernardo Acevedo, and Maria Cruz Acevedo, her grandchildren, and many cherished family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pascual Acevedo and her parents, Benito Sidon and Isabel Jaquez.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of our Lord, reunited with those who have gone before her.
A Funeral Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Sylvester Dsouza officiating, with the interment to follow at the Dawson County Cemetery. The viewings are Sunday, February 9, 2025, and Monday, February 10, 2025, at Gonzales Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at the Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, February 10th and Monday, February 11th, at 7:00 p.m.
