A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Maria De Jesus Nava De Ayala age 89 of Lamesa, TX. at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, August 25, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Sylvester Dsouza officiating. The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, and Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with Rosary prayers services at 7:00 p.m.
Maria passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on June 7, 1936, in Cd. Accuna, Coahuila, Mexico. Maria was married to Jesus Ayala, Sr. in Cd. Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico, until his passing on August 7, 2014.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Ayala, Sr.; her son, Jesus Ayala, Jr.; her parents, Feliciano Nava, and Maria de Jesus Maldonado Nava; six brothers; two sisters; granddaughter, Alexis Ayala.
Maria loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Maria loved sewing, gardening, spending time with her dog, “Candy”, and loved to sit outside on her front porch to watch her birds in her yard.
Survivors include her sons, Salvador Ayala, Sr. (Janie) of Lamesa, TX., Ron Ayala of Lamesa, TX., Robert Ayala (Shanda) of Snyder, TX.; her daughters, Juana Maria Sanchez (Francisco) of O’Donnell, TX., Aurora Ruiz (Noe) of Lamesa, TX., Lupe Ayala (Elias) of Lamesa, TX., Martha Ayala (Ramon) of Lamesa, TX., her daughter-in-law, Louie Ayala of Seagraves, TX.; 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
