MANUEL CASAREZ SR.'s Obituary
Manuel Casarez, Sr., age 70, passed away at his home
surrounded by his loving family on
Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Lamesa, Texas. A
Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on
Monday, October 27, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic
Church in Lamesa, with Deacon Saul Hernandez
officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County
Cemetery. Arrangements are under the trusted care and
direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
A Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and
Sunday. A rosary prayer service will be held on Saturday
and Sunday, October 25th and 26th, at 7:00 p.m. at the
Gonzales Funeral Home.
Manuel was born on July 6, 1955, in Panna Maria,
Texas, to Atilano and Eugenia Casarez. He married Petra
Hernandez on April 20, 1973, in Lamesa, Texas, and
together they built a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and
family.
Manuel worked in the oilfield and farming industry for
many years, where he was known for his strong work ethic
and dedication. He had a passion for gardening and was
known to have a green thumb. Manuel loved cooking out
and gathering family and friends together. He was a very
giving and kind-hearted man, never hesitating to help
others. Above all, he loved his sons and grandchildren and
great grandchildren dearly, always proud of the family he
built and nurtured.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Petra Casarez; his
parents, Atilano and Eugenia Casarez; his daughter, Petra Casarez; his son, Tony Casarez; his grandson, Juan Michael Casarez; his daughter-in-law, Janie Casarez; his
siblings, Felipe Casarez, Ezequiel Casarez, Sofia
Grimaldo, and Consuelo Hernandez; and three great
angel babies.
Manuel is survived by his sons, Manuel Casarez Jr.
(Mayte), Larry Casarez (Rachel), and Tommy Casarez
(Lori), all of Lamesa; and his bonus son, Ricky Lee
Hernandez, also of Lamesa. He is also survived by seven
grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of
whom brought endless joy to his life.
Survivors also include his siblings: Juan Casarez of
Seminole, Ramon Casarez of Seminole, Valentine
Casarez of Seminole, Elena Jimenez of Amarillo, Carmen
Ontiveros of Seminole, Maria Betancourt of Seminole,
Sylvia Alvidrez of Seminole, Beatrice Alemán of Big
Spring, Linda Alvarez of Carlsbad, NM, Maria Alarcon of
Lubbock, and Leroy Casarez of Roswell, NM.
Pallbearers will be Samantha Casarez, Ashley Casarez,
Lucero Casarez, Dakota Casarez, Larry Casarez Jr., Tony
Casarez, and Isaac Guzman.
Manuel will be deeply missed by his family, numerous
relatives, and many friends who loved him dearly.
