LINA LEIJA YPINA's Obituary
A Catholic memorial mass will be celebrated for Lina Leija Ypina age 90 at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father John Steven Rathinam officiating and assisted by Deacon Daniel Valenzuela.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Lina passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on September 23, 1927 in San Antonio de Rul Moctezuna, SLP, Mexico. Lina married Leon Ypina on January 12, 1942 in Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Ypina on March 7, 2003; her daughter, Maria Ypina on August 28, 2006; her son, Agustin Ypina on March 13, 2016; her great-grand-daughter, Samantha Luera on December 3, 1997.
Mom loved attending St. Margaret Mary Cahtolic Church, where she was a member of. She also loved cooking and having her grandkids around. She enjoyed going to the Casino. We will miss her "beans and tortillas" and her sincere saying..."I love you mijo". One of Lina's most proudest mements was the date of April 14, 1999 when she earned her United States Citizenship and became a US Citizen!
Survivors includes her children, her daughters, Vickey Guel and Olivai Alonzo, both of Lamesa; her brother, Leopoldo Leija of Monterrey, NL, Mexico; her sisters, Baluina Martinez, Narcisa Ypina, Salome Martinez, all of Monterrey, NL, Mexico; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren
