Funeral services for Leopoldo Villegas age 74 of Lamesa, TX., will be held at 10:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Geno Salazar officiating. Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Funeral chapel services and Graveside burial services will be Live Streaming on Gonzales Funeral Home facebook page.
Leopoldo passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Lamesa, TX. on Sunday, January 2, 2022 in Lamesa, TX. He was born on December 19, 1947 in Robstown, TX. Leopoldo married Silvia Garcia Gurrola on March 22, 1999 in Lamesa, TX.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Gonzales Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his son, Leo Villegas; his daughter, Christina Cortez; his parents, Leopoldo and Casimira Villegas; his brothers, Cornelio Villegas, Guadalupe Sanchez, Basilio Villegas, his sisters, Maryann Villegas, Manuela Zamora, Olivia Garza, Josefa Gutierrez, Eloisa Vara, Maria Baiz.
Leopoldo worked as a farmer until his retirement.
Leopoldo is survived by his sons, Johnny (Elisa) Villegas, Moses Cortez, all of Lamesa, TX., Able Portillo of Crosbyton, TX., and Chris Garcia of Lubbock, TX.; his daughters, Rosalinda (Joe) Morales, Estella (Johnny) Guerra, Maryann (Robert) Guerra, all of Lamesa, TX.; his brother, Juan Villegas of Grand Rapids, Michigan; his first wife, Rosa Villagas of Lamesa, TX.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous relatives, and friends.
