Family and friends will gather in remembrance of Jose (Joe) Vera age 77 of Welch, TX., from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Gonzales Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing starts at 1:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Joe passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, in Brownfield, TX.
Joe was born November 18, 1945, in Big Spring, TX. He married Delphine Pena on December 20, 1969, in Welch, TX.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Marcelino and Guadalupe Garza; his siblings, Richard Vera, and Linda Vera.
Joe was dedicated to his work until his retirement. He loved his grandbabies, cooking, music, his garden, and enjoyed working outdoors.
Joe is survived by his wife, Delphine Pena Vera of Welch, TX.; his sons, Marky Lee Vera and daughter-in-law, Mira Vera of Andrews, TX., and Michael Dee Vera and daughter-in-law, Jessica Vera of Levelland, TX.; his brother, Chelo Vera and sister-in-law, Irene Vera of Big Spring, TX.; his sister, Sally Ochoa and brother-in-law, Fernando of Greenwood, TX.; his nieces, Lillian Pena Martinez (Joey) of Lubbock, TX., and Sylvia Ochoa of Midland, TX.; his nephews, Tony Vera of Odessa, TX., Donnie Vera of Lockhart, TX., Daniel Vera of Odessa, TX., Fernando Ochoa, Jr. of Midland, TX., Helbert Ochoa of Midland, TX., and Ruben Ochoa of Odessa, TX.; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
