Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jessie Mae Jackson, age 86 of Lamesa, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lamesa with Pastor Joe Willie Cook officiating. Burial will follow to Lamesa Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Jessie Mae passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa. She was born on February 25, 1929 in Tom, Oklahoma. She married Charlie Jackson on August 5, 1953 in Lamesa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Jackson; her parents, Jesse and Bessie Smith; her daughter, Joann Cotton; her brothers ,Albert Smith, Joe Louis Smit.
Jessie Mae was a domestic worker for a number of families in Lamesa. She was an avid sports fan and could talk about sports with any and all who would listen.
Jessie Mae is survived by her loving family, her sons, Charles Jackson (Edith) of Lamesa, Texas, Brent Jackson (TammY) of Lamesa, texasa; her daughters, Margaret Jackson of Oklahoma City, OK, Ethel McGruder (Miller) of Midland, TX, Karen Jackson, Cherly Jackson, Thelma Jackson, all of Lamesa, TX.; her sister, Douglas Mae Royal of Denver, CO; grand-daughter, Kristie Jackson of Lubbock, TX.; grandsons, Tyron Jackson, Kristopher Jackson, Steven Jackson, all of Lamesa, TX.;12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
