JESSIE ALONZO's Obituary
Family and friends are invited to gather in loving remembrance of Jessie Alonzo age 74 of Lamesa, Texas, with the viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Gonzales Funeral Home in Lamesa, Texas. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebrated Funeral Mass at 4:00 p.m. at Jessie's beloved church, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, with Deacon Robert Lopez officiating.
Following the Mass, cremation arrangements will be entrusted to Gonzales Funeral Home. Funeral arraignments are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Jessie Alonzo passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Lamesa, Texas surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, kindness, and laughter.
Born on June 22, 1951, in Yorktown, Texas, and raised with strong family values, Jessie built a life centered on those he loved most. He married the love of his life, Olivia Ypina, in 1972 in Yorktown, Texas, beginning a marriage that would span more than five decades and create a large and loving family. Together, they shared over 50 years of unwavering love, dedication, sacrifice, and cherished memories.
Jessie spent nearly 19 years working in the oil field before beginning a 21-year career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was known as a hardworking and dependable man who took great pride in providing for his family and serving others through his work.
Above all else, Jessie was a devoted family man. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply. In addition to raising his own children, he played an important role in helping raise his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His presence was a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. In his final days, he found great joy in watching over and spending time with his beloved great-grandsons.
Jessie had one of the biggest and kindest hearts imaginable and would do anything for those he loved. He was also known for his wonderful sense of humor and positive outlook on life. Whether through a joke, a smile, or a helping hand, he had a special way of making others feel welcome, valued, and cared for.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolina Ramos; his stepfather, Ernest Ramos; his father, Marcial Alonzo; his brother, Johnny Alonzo; and his daughter, Erica Alonzo.
Jessie leaves behind his loving wife, Olivia Alonzo; his sons, Jessie Alonzo Sr. of Lubbock, Texas, and Ralph Alonzo of Lubbock, Texas; his daughters, Karla Braswell of Lamesa, Texas, and Krissella Alonzo of Lubbock, Texas; his brother, Jimmy Alonzo of Midland, Texas; and his sisters, Norma Barron of Tyler, Texas, Nelda Lopez of Lubbock, Texas, Nora Ramos of Lamesa, Texas, and Ernest Ramos Jr. of Lamesa, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous extended family members, and many friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.
Jessie will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his strong work ethic, his generous spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A reception will follow the Mass in the church hall, where family and friends are invited to continue sharing memories and celebrating Jessie's life.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
