HECTOR AVALOS's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Hector Avalos, age 78 of Lamesa, Texas, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Celebrant Father Sylvester Dsouza officiating. The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing and visitation will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary Prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Hector passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on September 3, 1947, in Brackettville, Texas
Hector was preceded in death by his father, Cantulo Avalos, and his mother, Modesta Avalos; brother, Ernest Avalos, sister-in-law, Ethel Avalos, brother, Edmund Avalos, sister-in-law, Gloria Avalos, brother, Edward Avalos, brother-in-law, Joe Date, niece, Elaine Smith, sister-in-law, Rosa Avalos, niece, Esmeralda Avalos; and nephews, Robert and David Avalos.
Hector was a retired school employee from Lamesa ISD.
Hector is survived by his family, sister, Maria Briseno, and brother-in-law, Victor Briseno of Lamesa, Texas, brother, Enrique C. Avalos of Uvalde, Texas, sister, Eva A. Date of San Antonio, Texas, sister-in-law, Odelia Avalos of Mesquite, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
