Gabriel E. Acosta's Obituary
A Catholic funeral Mass was celebrated for Gabriel E. Acosta, age 92 of Amarillo, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Rudolf Crasta officiating and assisted by Deacon Daniel Valenzuela. Burial followed to Lamesa Memorial Park cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Viewing and visitation were held on Tuesday with a Rosary recited in the evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Acosta was born on March 18, 1926 in Basuchil, Chihuahua, Mexico. Gabriel married Rafaela Minjarez in 1957 in Lamesa, Texas. Gabriel and Rafaela lived in Lamesa for many years and raised their family there, later Gabriel and Rafaela moved to Amarillo, Texas.
Gabriel was preceded in death by his wife, Rafaela Acosta; his son, Rafael Acosta.
Mr. Acosta was a man of many talents. In his early life, he worked in the oil fields, he was also a cotton ginner, but he had a real love for carpentry. Hard work was a trait that he portrayed daily. He was a fighter that provided for his family and loved hard. He will forever be in our hearts and we re grateful for all the love you blessed us with "Bito:.
Gabriel is survived by his children, his sons, Gabriel Acosta, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, Martin Acosta and wife, Beatrice Acosta of Lubbock, Texas, Albert Acosta and wife, Nora Acosta of Lamesa, Texas; his daughters, Teresa Acosta Flores and husband, Jerry Flores of Amarillo, Texas, Corina Gamez and husband, Victorino Gamez of Lubbock, Texas; numerous grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
