EVANGELINA ORTIZ PADILLA's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Evangelina Ortiz Padilla age 85 of Lamesa, TX. at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Sylvester Osouza officiating. The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary prayer services Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Evangelina passed away peacefully at her home in Lamesa, TX. surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1940, in Ozona, TX. Evangelina married Amador Padilla, Sr. on February 14, 1955, in Littlefield, TX.
Evangelina was preceded in death by her husband, Amador Padilla, Sr.; son, Gilbert Padilla; parents, Benino and Jeanette Ortiz; sisters, Lupe Valdez, and Eva Alonzo; brothers, Memo Ortiz, Sr., Pilo Ortiz, Hector Ortiz, Richard Ortiz, and Ben Ortiz, Jr.
Evangelina loved being around family. She enjoyed going out to the casinos. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, momo and tia. She embodied the best qualities unconditional love, strength of spirit, and overall, the best mom.
Evangelina is survived by her sons, Amador Padilla, Jr. (Rosa) of Lamesa, TX., and Ben Padilla, Sr. (Tonja) of Lubbock, TX.; daughters, Carolina Valenzuela (Gume, Sr.) of San Antonio, TX., and Jeanette Padilla of Midland, TX.; brother Johnny Ortiz of Lamesa, TX.; a special friend Evangelina loved as a daughter, Velma Bracey of Keller, TX.; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
