ERNESTO ESPARZA's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Ernesto Esparza age 64 of Welch, TX., at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2023, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Lamesa, Texas, with celebrate Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas
A Catholic funeral mass will also be celebrated at 3:15 p.m., on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Runge, Texas, followed with a burial committal at the Latin American Cemetery in Runge, Texas.
A viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Saturday April 1, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday night at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Ernesto passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at his residence in Welch, TX. He married Josephine Dominguez on June 27, 2009, in Lamesa, TX.
Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Esparza, and Manuela Perez Esparza; his brothers, Santiago Esparza, Jr., and Juan “Johnny” Esparza.
Ernesto was born in Runge, TX., to Santiago and Manuela Esparza on April 18, 1958. He graduated from Runge High School and then began a career in the oilfields, during this time he met and married his wife, Josephine, and together started a family. He was a hard-working man and enjoyed yard work, and Houston Oiler football, then eventually Tennessee Titan football. Ernesto was known for being loud and very friendly.
Ernesto is survived by his wife, Josephine Dominguez Esparza of Welch, TX.; his son, Eric Lee Esparza of Welch, TX.; his daughter, Roxanne Hernandez of Trinidad, CO.; his sisters, Beatrice Orosco of San Antonio, TX., Elaine Esparza Sheeran of Yorktown, TX., Pauline De Los Santos, and Ernestina De La Garza, both of Runge, TX., and Carmen Esparza of London, England, UK; his brothers, Pablo Esparza of Runge, TX., and Martin Esparza of Houston, TX., his grandsons, Donovan Esparza of Lubbock, TX., Joshua Esparza of Brownfield, TX., and Joseph Hernandez of Trinidad, CO; his grand-daughters, Zoe Esparza of Welch, TX., Madelyn Hernandez, and Sophia Hernandez, both of Trinidad, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Ernesto as his Pallbearers are Friday, Eric Esparza, Donovan Esparza, Joshua Esparza, Mark Guerra, Zakery Guerra, Zarek Guerra.
