Elias "Lee" Barrera Sr.'s Obituary
A Catholic funeral service mass of christian burial will be celebrated for 81 year, Elias "Lee" Barrera, Sr. of Lamesa on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial will follow to Lamesa Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas. Rosary services were recited on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the funeral home.
Mr. Barrera passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on April 17, 1933 in Cuero, Texas. Lee married Ramona Peralez on September 20, 1955 in Marlin, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Barrerez; his grandson, Christopher Barrera.
Lee was employed for over 40 years at the Lamesa Cotton Compress until his retirement. Lee proudly served as an Usher at his beloved church of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on his yard and fixin' things around the house.
Lee is survived by his two sons, Gilbert Barrera, Jr. and wife, Bertha and also Elias "Lee" Barrera, Jr. and wife, Delia, all of Lamesa, Texas; his sister, Lucia Garcia and husband, Ruben of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many family relatives and a host of friends.
