Chapel funeral services for Dominga T. Barraza, age 92 of Big Spring, Texas and formally of Lamesa, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel in Lamesa, Texas with Rev. Joe Torres of Big Spring, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Dominga passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Parkview Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Big Spring, Texas. She was born on January 11, 1925 in Knott, Texas. Dominga married Catarino Barraza on August 8, 1943 in Ackerly, Texas. They lived in Knott, Texas until 1971 from there they moved to Lamesa, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Catarino Barraza, her father and mother, Dionicio and Maria C. Trevino; her son, David T. Barraza; her grandson, Dickie B. Calvio; her brothers, Vidal Trevino, Domingo Trevino, Santos Trevino; her sisters, Felipa Garcia, Juanita Jordan, Christina Tijerina, Gil Gutierrez.
Dominga was a homemaker. She enjoyed canning, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.
Dominga is survived by her family, her daughters, Mary Helen T. Barraza of Lubbock, Texas and Magdalena B. Calvio and husbadn, Sammy Calvio of Big Spring, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Barraza of Lamesa, Texas; her sister, Simona Arispe of Avondale, AZ; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
