Charlie Jackson's Obituary
Funeral services for Charlie Jackson, age 80 of Lamesa are set for 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Willie Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Charlie entered into the world on September 3, 1932, to Norman Jackson and Oria Young Jackson in Palentine, TX. Charlie moved to Lamesa with his family in the late 1940's, where he attended school. He met and married Jessie Mae Smith on August 6, 1953 in Lamesa, and to this union bore seven children. Charlie worked at the Compress for many years. Then the Lord called Charlie home on Saturday, March 30, 2013 while at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Oria Jackson, Sr.; his step-daughter, JoAnn Cotton; two sisters, Lula Mae Cook and Irene Jackson; two brothers, Norman Jackson, Jr. and Corndus "Lefty" Jackson; one sister-in-law, Gladys Mae Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his many memories, his wife, Jessie Mae Jackson of Lamesa; daughters, Ethel McGruder (Miller) of Midland, TX., Margaret Jackson of Oklahoma City, OK., Karen Jackson, Cheryl Jackson and Thelma Jackson, all of Lamesa; sons, Charles Jackson (Edith) and Brent Jackson (Tammy), all of Lamesa; sister, Pearl Wesson of San Angelo, TX.; brother, Rufus Jackson of Lamesa, TX.; sister-in-law, Maudesta Jackson of Lamesa,.; grandchildren, Krisitie, Kris, Steven, Tyrone L, Curtis, Tyrone M, Deton, Chris, Candance and Christopher; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
