CAROLINA C. VASQUEZ's Obituary
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Caroline C. Vasquez age 74 of Lamesa, TX. At 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father John Steven Rathinam officiating. Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 staring at 12:00 noon p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with Rosary prayer services starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home.
Caroline C. Vasquez passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas.
She was born on November 7, 1947 in Lamesa, Texas to the late Refugio & Hilaria P. Castillo
Caroline married the late Guadalupe (Walle) C. Vasquez on February 2, 1974.
Caroline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was always willing to help her kids, grandkids and family. She brought smiles to everyone she knew and will be truly missed.
She believed in the power of prayer and would pray for anyone.
She was a nurse at a nursing home, Medical Arts Hospital and also with the late Dr. David Smiley in Lamesa.
She took pride with her work profession and had fond memories.
In addition, she would volunteer at North Elementary helping students with their daily assignments.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sports. She would cheer for them and always wished them good luck.
She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, old tv shows on TV Land, old game shows and novelas. She adored the family dog, Creed. She also enjoyed talking on the phone with her close family and friends.
Caroline is preceded in death by her loving husband Guadalupe "Walle" Vasquez, her granddaughter McKenzie Hope Cook, her parents Refugio & Hilaria Castillo, her sisters Emilia Castillo, Maria Armendariz, Antonia Castillo, Agapita Castillo, in addition her brothers Antonio Castillo, Marcelino Castillo, Gabino Castillo, and Francisco Castillo.
She is survived by her children Belinda Vasquez of Lubbock, Texas, Nancy Vasquez of Midland, Texas, Bobby Vasquez (Kristal) of Lamesa, Texas; her granddaughters Jaclyn & Gabriela Vasquez of Lubbock, Texas, McKenna, McKinley, & McKadyn Cook of Midland, Texas, and her grandsons Ryan & Jeremy Vasquez of Lamesa Texas. Her brother Loretto Castillo, her sisters Guadalupe Montemayor, Beatriz Hernandez, and San Juana Castillo all of Lamesa, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
