Candice Marie Ortiz's Obituary
A Catholic funeral service mass for Candice Marie Ortiz, age 16 of O'Donnell, Texas, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Edwardo Teo officiating. Burial will follow to Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, Texas. Funeral arrangement are under the direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
Visitation was set for Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home.
A Rosary service was set for7:00p.m. on Wednesday at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Candice Marie passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on June 1, 1997 in Lubbock, Texas.
Candice was very active in her school activities, she was currently a student of the "Junior Class" at Lubbock-Cooper High School. When she attended O'Donnell High School, Candice Marie participated, 2012-2013, as a Varsity Cheerleader. UIL Cross Country; Band-Marching Division 1-Concert-Division II; Varsity Basketball, Bi-District Champs-Area Divisional Champs-Regional Quarter Finalist-2nd Place District; Track. 2011-2012, she was a Varsity Cheerleader, UIL-Band/1st Place 1A Division Drumline Competition Marching Division 1 - Area Qualifier/Division II Concert; JV Basketball-Regional Science Fair-Blue Ribbon-Gold Medal-3rd Place Trophy-State Qualifier; JV Track 200m-3rd Place/400m-2nd Place/400 Relay 1st Place. Candice Marie will be missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Guadalupe and Josephina Morado; maternal great-grandmother, Alicia Franco; maternal great-grandmother, Dora Jimenez; paternal great-grandparents, Eufemio and Paz Ortiz.
Candice Marie is survived by her father, Oscar Ortiz of Lubbock, Texas and mother, Dora Ortiz of O'Donnell, Texas; her brother Eufemio Ortiz of O'Donnell, Texas; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Luisa Morado of O'Donnell, Texas; paternal grandparents, Jessie and Lydia Ortiz of O'Donnell, Texas; maternal great-grandfather, Nito Jimenez of Midland, Texas; maternal uncles and aunts, Arturo Morado, Jr. and Erica Gutierrez of Lubbock, Texas, Fidel and Ginger Morado of Lamesa, Texas, Matthew Morado and Jennifer Losoya of Mesquite, Texas, Tonnie and Angel Blanco of Big Spring, Texas and Jacoby Morado and Jessica Childress of Midland, Texas; paternal uncles and aunts, Johnny and Rachel Morales of O'Donnell, Texas, John and Amy Ogeda of Houston, Texas and Michael Ortiz of Hobbs, NM; several cousins and great uncels and aunts; many friends.
