ALBERTO GLORIA's Obituary
Celebration of Life funeral services for Alberto Gloria, age 76 of O’Donnell, TX. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Nueva Vida Iglesia Bautista in O’Donnell, TX. with Jimmy De Los Santos officiating. The burial committal will follow to the O’Donnell Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Alberto passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at his home in O’Donnell surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 1, 1949, in O’Donnell, TX. Alberto married Isabel Gutierrez on September 14, 1969, in O’Donnell, TX.
Alberto was preceded in death by his son, Albert Gloria, Jr.; his grandson’s, Buddy Gonzales, and Landry Villarreal; his father, Tomas Gloria and his mother, Dora Hernandez; brothers, Rudy Gloria, and Daniel Gloria; sister, Juanita Mendoza.
Alberto Gloria was a retired farm hand. He was an active member serving at Nueva Vida Iglesia Bautista for over 40 years. He was a faithful servant of God He was a Sunday School Director for many years, always making sure that everyone would receive a warm welcome and would invite them to join them again on the following Sunday. He was always up early on Sunday mornings, he would drive to the church to open the doors and make sure the room temperature inside the church was comfortable for the membership and visitors to worship. He kept the church yard mowed to make the church look nice on the outside. He was always ready to do God’s work.
Alberto loved playing softball in his younger years, was an awesome pitcher. He would wait for Saturday or Sunday evenings to see his family and play card games and Loteria. His most favorite place to be was at home in his recliner chair watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, old Western movies and comedies. He could sit for hours and laugh watching the TV shows of Jerry Lewis, I Love Lucy, and the Three Stooges. Monday night was set aside for Wrestling. Most importantly he loved his family. His love was unconditional for his wife. His children, and grandchildren were his joy and life. He was complete when surrounded by all his family, including his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Alberto is survived by his wife, Isabel Gloria of O’Donnell, TX.; his daughters, Denise Villarreal of Lubbock, TX., and Monica Gonzales of O’Donnell, TX.; his son, John Paul Gloria of O'Donnell, TX.; brothers, Roy Gloria (wife, Dalia) of Slaton, TX., Ismael Gloria (wife, Tonya) of Lubbock, TX., and Renee Hernandez (wife, Nicole) of Lubbock, TX.; sisters, Yolanda Perez (husband, Jesse) of Big Spring, TX., and Julia Cantu of California, Alicia Gaunal (husband, Jerry) of Junction, and Amelia Tijerina (husband, Marcus) of Lubbock, TX>; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Honoring Alberto as his Pallbearers are, Jacob Valdez, Jeffrey Gloria, Jace Gloria, Josh Gloria, Braydn Villarreal, Joey Trevino, Dustyn Gonzales, Branson Villarrel. Honorary Pallbearers are, Erica Villarreal, Lexi Villarreal, Priscilla Gonzales, Zaelan Gloria, Giauna Gloria.
