Family and friends will gather in remembrance of David Velasquez age 65 of O’Donnell, TX., at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Gonzales Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
David passed away on June 1, 2023, in O’Donnell, TX. He was born on February 20, 1957, in Slaton, TX. David married Refugia (Ruth) Vasquez on December 29, 1973.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Refugia (Ruth) Velasquez on December 1, 2022; his parents, Carlos and Blasa Velasquez; sisters, Modesta Rodriguez, and Sara Duenes; grandson, Zachary Leon.
David was a loving and caring father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was such a beautiful soul who cared about everyone and their well-being before his. He didn’t have much but made sure his children and grandchildren had everything and more. He spent all his time with us. Evey moment spent with this precious man was valuable and dear. David had a sense of humor that could brighten the mood for hours on end. He told stories from his childhood that we will remember always and be thankful for. This man loved us deeply and will forever be missed.
David is survived by his family, his son, John David and daughter-in-law, Amy Velasquez of Tahoka, TX., his daughters, Michaell Rosas and son-in-law Epi Rosas of O’Donnell, TX., Debra Ramirez and son-in-law, Jesus Ramirez of Stanton, TX., and Amanda Velasquez of Lubbock, TX.; sister, Isbel Ramirez of Shallowater, TX.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
