    Guadalupe ( Lupe ) Lara

    February 26, 1927 - November 5, 2014

    A Catholic funeral service mass will be celebrated for Guadalupe Lara, age 87 of Lamesa, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Rudolf Crasta officiating. Interment will follow to Lamesa Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are underr the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Guadalupe Lara went to be with her Savior with all her children by her side on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 while at UMC hospital in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on February 26, 1927 in Kenedy, Texaqs. She married Jose V. Lopez in 1945 in Karnes City, Texas. Guadalupe was a compassionate woman loved by many in her community. She loved and served the Lord as evidence by her forty years as a "Cursillista". Lupe was very active in her beloved church, St. Margaret Mary where she was a member of Los Cursillitas, served as an extra-ordinary Eucharistic minister, recited Rosaries for Lamesa families. Lupe offered her services as seamstress for her family and the community. Her family was everything in the world to her and she enjoyed having countless family gathering in her home. She will be missed tremendously by her family and friends as she will be laid to rest. Guadalupe was preceded in death by her husband, Jose V. Lopez; her brothers, Cristobal Villafranca, Francisco Villafranca, Antonio Villafranca, Jose Villafranca, Baltasar Villafranca, Santiago Villafranca; her sisters, Martina Lopez, Felipa Calendaria, Tules Lerma; her grandson, Jaime Hernandez. Guadalupe is survived by her loving family, her two daughters, Alice Chavez and husband, Art, Estella Hernandez and husband, Jose, all of Lubbock, Texas; her son, Tony Lara and wife, Mary of Lubbock, Texas; grandsons, Robert Hernandez of San Antonio, Texas, Stephen Hernandez and Jonathan Lara, both of Lubbock, Texas, Marc Chavez of Austin, Texas; grand-daughters, Stephanie Chavez of Houston, Texas and Christina Jones and husband Darrell of Sachse, Texas; great-grand-daughters, Kerry Gonzalez of San Antonio, Texas, Kailey Bueno of Lubbock, Texas, Layla Jones of Sachse, Texas; great-grandsons, Jaden Limon of Houston, Texas, Darrell Jones II of Sachse, Texas.
