Funeral services for Bernard "Chubby" Canady, age 45 of Lamesa, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Second Baptist Church of Lamesa with Rev. Arvin D. Medlock, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow to Dawson Read Obituary
My husband the love of my life it has been a year since you were taken away from us...it still seems just as unreal today as it did a year ago you are missed and loved so very much by so very many people. I love and miss you more and more every second of every minute of every day...RIP💔
Son, I miss you as much today as I did the day you was taken away from us. Football season won't be the same without you. But I tell everyone you're going to be calling the plays from heaven. So I firmly believe this will be the year YOUR Dallas Cowboys goes all the way!!!! So don't let me down son. I would have given my life if God would have taken me so you could have stayed here with my first born and my awesome grandkids the two of you raised. You and Mistry had what I always wanted, a wonderful life as husband and wife, a awesome provider for your family. I admire you for making the life for her, your son and your daughter they have and it's all because of the love you two shared. Mistry said she always felt very safe with you, she trusted you. She told me you would have walked through fire or jumped in water (even knowing you couldn't swim) just to save her. I have always known that myself, she didn't have to tell me because you showed her how much you loved her, Elijah and Nichole. Please send that love down here to them, they are so much pain, as we all are.

I couldn't sleep, finally got up and was ironing, playing the CD from Granny's funeral. There's not single moment that goes by I don't about you. I miss you terribly as everyone else does also. The song Precious Memories played and then Memories by Elvis. Especially when those two songs played many memories we have had came flooding through my mind. Two in particular was our first Christmas that me, granny, Danielle and I think Wendy and Jamie was there also. When I gave you your Dallas Cowboy stocking, as you was pulling each thing out, you was like a 3 year old in a candy store. You was so excited. Then after the gifts was opened and Mistry knowing the routine she picked yours up to put your things in zip lock baggie and that 3 year old in you said "That's mine what are you doing?" She said I'm putting it in this baggie. Again you said "No that's mine" She looked at you and said well you want her to fill it again next year don't you! Boy howdy I think you threw that stocking like a football touchdown, fast and hard! I will never forget that never. Another memory that flooded me was even though you couldn't swim and was deathly afraid of water, My last wedding your job was to assist me off the boat and not let me fall in lake with my big olé gown. I remember that booming voice as we pulled up to dock, "No y'all get out the way THAT'S MY JOB" and you did exactly what I asked to do you held out your arm and helped me off and neither one of us fell in. Thank you for every memory I will always cherish. I bragged on you all the time. You made a very respectful and loving son (not son-in-law). I love you son. Rest in Peace.
Son, there is not enough words to describe our grief, how much we miss you and certainly not enough words to tell you how much I love you. I can only hope you did know I love you from the depths of my heart. There is NO way I could have even begin to choose a better husband for my first born baby girl or a better Father for my two awesome grandkids, absolutely no way. I wish I would have called you every night and told you how very proud of you I was and how very much I loved you. You are missed by many. You and Mistry raised two amazing kids and very respectful. I've had many a people tell me that. Because of you Mistry built a life for her and your kids that was definitely evident every time I came for a visit, however, I was so proud of her life with the support her, Elijah and Nichole received. I'm still in awe. By the way son when I meet you and granny at the gates, I'll have my dogs, LOL, between you and me. Thank you for the husband and dad you was. I love you dearly and miss you terribly. Love always and forever.
